WALKING WOMAN
I write both fiction and non-fiction, with historical research forming a large part of most of my projects. I’ve travelled all over Brittany in recent years for my guide book to Finistere (Things to see and do at the End of the World), Discovering the History of Brittany and a guide to the Nantes-Brest Canal. Generally my interests are in travel, history and identity in the context of non-fiction, and every day magic in my two novels Moon Garden and The Five of Cups.
I am currently writing a travelogue, The Long Thought, about my experiences of walking the 365km canal over the period of a year. The themes are a search for identity, the history of Brittany and the psychology of walking.
My project for publication in 2008 is a coastal walking book, covering Finistere from Morlaix to Benodet.
I’ve written articles on many subjects including local history, French property, Brittany, living abroad, walking, Feng Shui, tarot and paganism.
I also teach writing and act as a consultant for those keen to develop their existing work. I’ll be offering a new course on Walking and Writing in 2008.
My other activities include running the Brittany Walks Association, promoting the history and landscape of Brittany.

The Walking Woman
lives in Finistere, Brittany, writing and walking. Or sometimes walking and writing.
Working life began with historical research, moved into teaching and then regressed into historical research and writing. Forward momentum continued with walking.
